Found---Somebody else's family photographs/papers
« on: Tuesday 10 June 08 11:49 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

              not posted on this site for a while,due to exams and family commitments---but it is nice to come back to.

Not sure where to put this post--but i'm sure somebody will point me in the right direction.

My husband has just done a house clearance for a friend,and when clearing out the attic he found old suitcases full of odds and ends and loads of old photographs,papers,newspaper clippings,apprentiship papers,WW1 postcards(some embroidered) a veritable treasure trove of sombody's family history.

The house is in Aberdare,S,Wales but looking through the stuff most of this persons earlier years were spent in ;

Alverton Avenue in Poole,Dorset

67 Leamington House-West Street,Southsea,Hants

Newport-Isle of Wight

Bombay--India

Harrowgate

Some of the names on some of the letters and post cards are;

Charlotte A Hulcoop

Caroline? Edna Louisa Hulcoop-daughter of Henry and Edna Hulcoop.

Edna Marion Sabin

Stanley Clifford Elkins

Oswald Tracy Hawthorne (Major) son of Robert John and Minnette Mary Hawthorne.

There is also a memorial plaque for a John Hawthorne.

There does not seem to be any family in Aberdare,and it would be such a shame to throw away all this stuff,so I am hoping someone recognises the names.

Do you think this post should go on the Enland board.

Bye for now.

I can't lay claim to any of the names mentioned............but with such interesting items, I'm more than prepared to adopt them.

Good luck with your search..........and please, don't throw anything away.
