Farrell Family in Dublin
« on: Tuesday 10 June 08 11:11 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking for help finding anything about Peter Farrell married to Lucinda  ? in Dublin. One known son was Peter born c 1817 in Dublin.   The family apparently came to South Australia in the early 1830's and moved to Victoria about 1854.  Peter's (1817-1872) death certificate says his father was a soldier.
The second Peter Farrell was married to Rosanna McIvor in Adelaide in 1847-49?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Kath

Hello Kath,

There are three or four items required when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish. Was this in the city or elsewhere in the county?
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as Peter was born prior to the introduction of Civil Registration in Ireland. This happened in 1864. Marriages of Non Catholic were registered from 1845 onwards.
