Hi and Welcome to Rootschat!

I can t see anything on Ancestry's World war 1 records for this guy. But many of the War records did not survive or were so badly damaged they are illegible.

Dont think that living in Oz makes it hard to get info - anything that is on the web will be just as available to you in Oz as to anyone else anywhere else.
OK when you get down to what isnt on the web it will be harder - but Rootschatters will help wherever they can. And often a good old fashioned letter to institutuons works wonders, if email is not available!

Happy Hunting.

PS have you got him on 1891 and  1901 censuses?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Thanks so much for having a look for Henry :)
Yes he is on the 1891 and 1901 census.
I've found his birth- baptism -and marriage records, but still enable to link him with any body else so far.
Thanks again ;)

Hi Maxine !

I am assuming that you think he was in the Army  :-\ if so one of these should be his Medal Index Card

To further research his status as a PoW you may find this research guide from TNA helpful.

Hi Maxine

If he was a prisoner in Russia during WW1 he must have been part of the Archangel campaign to aid the White Russians against the Reds. See - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Russia_Campaign

Ancestry are currently publishing surviving service records for men with surnames beginning "H", so you will have to wait a while to see if his survive. Also, if he was still serving in 1921 or later his papers will still be with the MOD.

NO NOT REALLY
WHEN I SAW H.S. WRAIGHT AND IT WAS KENT IT WAS JUST THE MOST LOGICAL GUESS.
IF I SEND AWAY AND PAY FOR THE RECORD WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY FIND OUT OTHER THAN THE MEDALS HE MAY HAVE RECEIVED. WILL IT HAVE ANY FAMILY INFORMATION ON THE RECORD? DO YOU THINK ITS WORTH IT?

It's not worth it if you are not sure which one he is.

There would not be any family info on it, as they only copied the fronts of the cards.  Ancestry is putting them online and copying the back of the card too.  This may have a next of kin address on it, but I think they have put online only to letter "H" so far....
