Thank you Betty :)
Could the proof that Henry was Baptised dispell the story that his family may have been Gypsies?
For the information of other researchers they may like to know that this branch of the Wraight family tree is in Australia.
Thank you again Betty for you help

Hi Maxine

Tati has done most of the work on this thread, finding the Baptism was the easy bit ;D I hope everything Tati found is useful to you.

I believe Gypsy children were Baptised, so that baptism doesn't prove anything one way or the other.  RootsChat has a board for Travelling People

WELL ,YES  JANE .I'VE HAD A LITTLE LOOK BUT NOTHING YET.
THIS LADY IS GOING TO HAVE A HUGH STORY A CAN FEEL IT.
I THINK HENRY IS GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF HALF BROS & SISTERS.WHILE I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FAMILY I'VE DISCOVERED MANY WOMEN WITH MANY MEN IN THEY LIVES. DO ANY OF US HAVE ANY TRUE BLOOD LINES? IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKELY.
WILL KEEP IN TOUCH IF I FIND SOMETHING

Not sure if this is of any help to you but in my family (Wraight,s) in Kent none were as far as I know direct descendant's of Gypsies, however my grandfather was married to a Pope whom I suspect may have been Gypsies.
My Grandfather and father and as far as I know quite a few Wraight,s were totally fluent in Romany and in fact my Mom and Dad quite often spoke to each other in Romany, their  knowledge came from frequent dealing,s with Gypsies through business which I am given to understand was fairly common in the Blean, Faversham, Ashford area.
My Grandmother Pope apparently come from a circus family and I think a lot of people would confirm that many circus performers of this era were gypsies.
Cheers
Pete
