Completed--- Church of England records Wellington

Hi,
Where can one find the church records of a burial performed by a Church of England reverend in Upper Hutt in Wellington in 1896.  I have the death certificate of Henry Charles Young buried Jan 1896.  But his grave is nowhere to be found.  Now I would like to know where the church record might be.  The reverend is P.L.Cannon I Think, could be Cameron.

There is a Church of England clergy book that spans many countries .  It is published every couple of yrs and certainly goes back beyond the period of interest to you.

It is called CROCKFORD  and most large public libraries in their reference section should hold runs of it. 
I'd suggest you phone your largest accessible public library and ask the reference librarian if  they have Crockford for the approximate time frame you want and would they look up  the clergyman's surname for you.  If the entry is there it will summarise the parishes in which he has served, dates of incumbency and so on.

If the public library approach fails, then a Church Of England Theological College Library would most likley have these or could tell you where to go.

Another alternative is to post on RC and ask for  CROCKFORD lookup of the minister you want.  I can't remember how the surnames ar organised- whether it is just straight alphabetical or by diocese or by country.

This is how I have gone about finding a clergman in the past ..

 The death certificate doesn't have place of burial  ?

Place of death and burial is Upper Hutt.  Those council registers did not come up with his name as being registered in their burial records.

Hera, on second thoughts, it's probably better to ask a reference library of wherever if they hold backcopies of Crockfords Directory of Church of Engalnd]Anglican?] Clergy .  That description is a bit more definitive of what you are after in case the book is not in high demand!

Another place to ask would be at the Church of England Diocesan Offices for where ever you live.  They will have archives and should have back copies archived. as it is a standard respected reference.

I will look into all of these.  I found a British web page for the Anglican Church.  They have a library in London.  I will ask them if they have any NZ records from the time I am looking at.  I will let you know what they say.

the fact that Upper Hutt city don't have a record means that it was entirely a Church of England burial and must be in a C of E churchyard. My guess would be the one at the corner of Moonshine Road and Fergusson Drive. It is a lovely little church and churchyard. Try the Wellington Diocesan  Board of Trustees. I could try to find out what the church is called. There may be others, of course. An Upper Hutt person should be able to tell you.
