welcome Shannie - so do you want his marriage found, so you get the maiden name of ggrandnan, and his age and Father's name and occupation ... ?

Or Census entries - that might be harder until his Dads name is revealed on that marriage Cert .....

Does Jane sound right ? 'Sep' quarter is correct for an August wedding date

If you want to order the Cert - go to  http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/   and follow the prompts ........

I am trying to work out when he was injured what Paull Point Battery was a hospital.
It seems from the info I have he got married and was then at Paull Point so did he come home on,leave and then return to France/Belgium and then get injured.
Thanks

Hello Shannie,

Harry's service number in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment was 17778. At some point, after he was injured presumably, he was transferred to the Royal Defence Corps with the service number 53559.
At a guess, I would say that Paull Point Battery was where he was stationed with the RDC at the time he wrote the letter.

This is a link to a brief outline of the RDC's role.

Can  I just point out to avoid any confusion....that the tern Pvt is American...the correct term for British soldiers is Pte...If you look on any service records etc you may not realise what you are looking at!!!

Have you seen this book??

Hi Shannie
I have not been able to find his details on Ancestry.

You can download his Medal Index Card from TNA for £3.50.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/03l1/

Ancestry are adding them all, in the long term.

Wendi  :)
