Arkleston Cementry, Renfrewshire!
« on: Tuesday 06 April 04 21:48 BST (UK) »
Is there anyone who could tell me about Arkleston Cementry.  I know it is/was used for military personnel.  I have a copy of a certificate which says that Archibald Stewart is registered in the Books of Arkleston Cementry as Proprietor of the Exclusive and Perpetual right of burial in one lair therein, Number as above.  Certificate No: 3768, Date: 24 April 1943.  I don't know anything else and would appreciate more information.  In advance, many thanks.

I lived in Renfrew Scotland and have family interred in Arkleston Cemetery. It was at one time run by Renfrew Burgh Council. It is probably now  run by Renfrew District Council based at Paisley. I hope  this info helps.  Good luck.

Many thanks for your information.  I was surprised that there was so little to find about Arkleston Cemetry on the net.

i live in renfrew and arkleston cemetary sites in the middle of farm land and as we say there is an old bit and a new bit. is it the head stone that you would like to know whats on it if so i can go and have a look for you. if that is okay. but i would have to try and find out from someone where abouts the grave is first.i will ask tomorrow if that is okay with you. arkleston cemetery has always been run by the council and you can find them in cotton street in paisley .and it is under renfrewshire council 0141-842-5979 this is for the cemetery. there are some war graves there but they are not all together like a war cemetery i asked the council and they told me that it has been theres since it open up and they told me that bishopton would have been the war cemetery i hope this helps all of you
you could go on to the libraries web site it is www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/libraries

Hi

the Arkleston cemetary was opened on 7 April 1902. The burial records are held by Renfrewshire council.

Tel no is 0141 830 3504 or 5979. is the Environmental Services Cemeteries Section. It is expensive option tho!

Thanks

Ann

Hi William

Of course it was you and once again I am very grateful for ALL the help, pictures and information you found for me.  I am in the middle of another branch of the family and I think I need to unscramble my brain cells (what there is left of them :).  I hope you are not mad at me.  How are you doing?

Best
Kirsten
