Hi Florence,
I have recorded all Urch Baptisms / Births starting from 1540 up to 2004. Although my listings are far from completion ( I am adding to it all the time) I have about 2300 Baptisms, and as you can imagine if you know Excel, each row represents a Birth and I have incorporated their deaths or Burials; their Marriage partners; their deaths and lastly both the parents. I am in the middle of raising separate family record sheets using the worksheet programme based upon my info, so that I can verify I have the correct info. I love using Excel and have devised a Family Record Sheet myself incorporating the Census records. The Census sheets help me later on, especially those for people born after 1780 to 1800. or to be precise those still living after 1841 and after. Prior to 1780 / 1800 it becomes more difficult in recording the correct wives / husbands. I have a wealth of information to help me FreeReg / Lots of other Websites / FamilyHistoryonline / FamilySearch / Microfiche Parish records for Wells; Westbury; Kewstoke; Axbridge and Chelvey. I am awaiting the Fiche for Ashwick; Banwell and Chilton Polden to arrive from Somerset Records Office, which should arrive any day now.
Am I correct in thinking you are the Florence whose birth was registered in the 4th Qtr of 1945 in Bath. I was born in 1947 in Romford Essex. My father was born in Risca Monmouthshire in 1913 and my Ancestors came to South Wales during 1845 to 1850 from the Bedminster area. I started this Excel Spreadsheet in the hope it would help me identifying all my Ancestors which it has and I just went on from there.
It is now like a One Name Study.
The Bigamy Court Proceedings report makes wonderful reading and yes I agree with you, it has to be the Thomas of Richard & Ann Coombes. I have two other Thomas's not including the one who married the bigamist; one who married in Newington in London in 1838 and one who was married in Bridgewater in 1840. The Thomas who married Mary Ann Mapstone was in 1840 in Bridgewater as you say and the other married a Mary Ann Smith in Newington, London although this needs to be verified.
I know the Thomas who married Mary Ann Mapstone was the one in 1840 but I am having difficulty in identifying the Baptism of the Thomas who married in London.
I will do a separate note for the Ancestors / Descendants as this is getting too long.
Best Regards
Alun Urch
