Marriage in St Martins Worcester c 1826 COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 31 May 08 13:58 BST (UK) »
Could someone look up if John Thomas married his wife Sarah in St Martin's Church Worcester around 1826? All their 7 children were baptised in that church the eldest George, in March 1827. In the censuses John said he was from Eaton Bishop in Herefordshire and Sarah from Broadwas, Worcestershire so they may have married elsewhere before setting up home in Worcester.
Many thanks.

Hi Charlie,

I checked the St Martin's marriage records for 1825 to 1827 and there was no marriage recorded for a John Thomas.

Many thanks for looking this up for me. It was kind of you to take the time to do this. I will have to look farther afield for John Thomas and his bride.
all the best

Worcester History centre has an index to nearly all of the county marriages so perhaps someone could check there for you?

Thanks Netti,
Its useful to have the local knowledge. One day I will get to Worcester to do my family research. Its a 400 mile round trip at present so its on my to do list for another year. However, if some kind soul is in the Worcester History Centre it would be great if they could look this one up for me.
best wishes

Just found out where the Worcestershire Marriage Index is in the History Centre.

There was no John Thomas marrying a Sarah in the mid 1820s in Worcester. The only possible match was

27 Jan 1825 John Thomas married Sarah Hartshorn of Old Swinford at Hagley parish church.

It was really kind of you to look this up for me. Now I need to work out what they were doing in Hagley, as it seems most likely to be the right couple.
Once again thanks for your help
