marriage lookup
« on: Saturday 31 May 08 06:54 BST (UK) »
Is there anyone in the Bovevagh area who could do a look up of a marriage for me. The marriage is of Joseph Gibson to Mary Ann Mc Cully on 8-11-1888,in Bovevagh Presbyterian Church. I know Josephs parents but can find nothing at all on Mary Ann. If I had her fathers name (off the marriage cert)I might be able to make some progress. Any help appreciated. Agnetta

Kingskerswell - Thanks for reply. I do already have that info - just don't know if one or any of the 3 are connected to My Mary Ann. I have half a notion that John is SOME connection, but half notions are no good !! Only proof will do.! Agnetta.

Agnetta,
            You may also have this.
1831 census of Co.Londonderry
Archibald McCully Dernaflaw Bovevagh
I can get access to Bovevagh Presbyterian church records but it may take some time.

Kingskerswell  - no I haven't seen that At least one more avenue to pursue, although given their liking for calling children after fathers and grand fathers, and the fact that the the Christian name Archibald doesn't show up in succeeding generations of Gibsons,I doubt it is a connection, but I will pursue it. You never know - he may have had brothers, one of whom could be the one I'm looking for.!!Re Bovevagh Pres Church records - it can't do any harm to check them if you would. Incidentally - if,during that perusal, you find a Mary Ann Rosborough b 1834 to a David Rosborough and ??? she's mine. She also is eluding me - well and truly. She was the mother of Joseph Gibson(who m'd Mary Ann Mc Cully) and wife of Alexander Gibson(Joseph's father) Is "Kerswell " a surname in your connection? I only ever seen it once before - in Derry - where I lived, as a child.(65 years ago !!!)There was a Mrs Kerswell in our street. Many thanks for your help. Agnetta (Betsy Harper)

Betsy,
I have not got access to the records yet. Kingskerswell is the village where my wife comes from, it is in Devon in England. I was roaming on the internet today and found the following website which you might find interesting.

Betsy,
        Please E-mail me at (*)
I have been through the church records and have taken off all info on McCully, Gibson and Rosborough. There is rather a lot. You can pick out what you want and keep the remainder on file.
Regards
Morrison
