Hi can anyone help me??

I am researching the Andrews family of Winchester, in the 1861 census Edward Andrews is living in Winchester, Hampshire with his mother and family. Later census's show that the lady he married was called Georgianna Amelia Drake. In 1862 in Sydney an Edward Andrews is seen marrying Georgianna Amelia Drake Mounsdon, BUT by November 1862 they appear to be back in england baptising their first daughter, Georgiana!

Can anyone help explain how this could be possible?? i can find no records of them of any ship lists!

Thanks so much.

Hi

Sorry I can't help you. But in a word YES it can happen.

On my tree.  Hilda M Barker sailed out on SS Ballarat August 1925 to Melborne, Aus.  Married Australia November 1925.

September 1926 her daughter was born in Norfolk.  We beleive she couldn't stand the heat.

Joan  ;)

Hi

Have a look at Find Your Past. I found 2 entries for a passport application surname Andrews in 1861/1862. You  have to purchase credits to view the image.

Hi - are you still researching? I'm pretty sure your Georgianna Drake Mounsdon is my great-great Aunt; in which case I know quite a bit about her family - including some of her ancestors back to 1670!

Our family tree only records that she married a Winchester Coach Builder and emigrated to Australia though. Did you find anything out? Are you a direct descendent by any chance? Thanks.

Hi there
Georgiana was my great great aunt
I have a sampler that she did and also the catalogue of the Andrews family when they were auctioning the coach business in Winchester. I am interested in finding out more about George Henry Drake if anyone has any info. He was Mary Mounsdons partner and her daughter Amelia Drake Mounsdon was my great great grandmother. I have the middle name of Drake which has been carried down through our side of the family

Hi there
George Henry Drake (1807-1863) was an Exeter solicitor, son of John Drake (1762-1839), a Crediton miller, and Charity Jackman (1767-1839). He was my greatx2 grandfather and - it seems - your greatx3. I also have his grandparents and great grandparents on both sides.

Why did he never marry our gtx2/3 grandmother, Mary Mounsdon? I knew this story but never knew why. The name Drake was passed down through our family also . Do tell me what you know or this mystery will disappear in the mists of time!

Hi there sorry has taken me a longtime to reply as forgot my log in pass word. I have a distant cousin who has had it passed down to her that two Drake boys "courted" two Mounsdon girls but they did not marry as it was felt that the girls were not from a suitable family. Who knows if this is the case. I have a copy of George H Drake's will he lived at 4 Queens Square Mount Radford. He left £500 to his friend Mary Mardon otherwise Henrietta H??? of Brunswick Square London. The balance of the executors account shows £1748.40 which GHD bequeathed Georgianna Drake Mounsdon to share equally between herself mother brother and sister. Georgianna at the time of the will lived in Bartholomew Street Exeter and was named as executrix Will dated 5th sept 1859. Died it looks like 30th Dec 1863

Hope this is of interest to you if you do not already have this info
