I have found a James Cook married Jun quarter 1847 in goole 23 143 But I have no idea if I'm on track or not  freebmd.rootsweb.com . I have no clue who is wife might be.   Having someone helping or at least interested make the hunting all the more fun. Thanks Lee and all.

Hi Bonnie,

I'm a bit confused (should be asleep but it's too warm here tonight).

Which James are you looking for?

I think the 1847 might possibly be a red herring, as there are too many on the page and another very similar transcription for Poole so may just be mistransciption of a very badly faded page.

The 1862 James who married Harriet and had Joseph in 1885, would be more likely:

James Cook 1883q3 in Goole 9c 925
There is a Harriett Moore on the same page.

Sorry, if I'm looking for the wrong James
McDonough, Oliver, McLoughlin, O'Brien, Cuthbert, Keegan, Quirk(e), O'Malley, McGuirk (Ireland)
Dudley, Winchurch, Wolverson, Brookes (Black Country)
Concannon, Moore, Markowski (Markesky), Mottram, Lawton (Black Country)

If it's the 1825 James we're looking for, there is also a marriage in Goole in:

1855q4 ref 9c 711
with possible brides Ann Loverack or Harriet Longbones.

or 1854q4  ref 9c 763
possible brides Mary Ann Searby or Ann Shipley
McDonough, Oliver, McLoughlin, O'Brien, Cuthbert, Keegan, Quirk(e), O'Malley, McGuirk (Ireland)
Dudley, Winchurch, Wolverson, Brookes (Black Country)
Concannon, Moore, Markowski (Markesky), Mottram, Lawton (Black Country)

Please don't be sorry. The James you found is the James I want. I found him in 1901, 1891, 1881. Then in 1871 he turns up as a 10 year old  grandson of Joseph Cook. I was hoping to sort out his parents. Lee found the Grand Dad's kids so I started working from the Grand Dad end. I noticed that Joseph only seemed to have one son. That son was named James. If your not confused by all this, I sure am. :)
As I figure it   Young men get married at or after 21years of age. I took the son (James) of Joseph worked out the age and did a search give or take a few years. That was how I got the James in the FreeBMD.
But you maybe very right Poole,  Goole and faded pages are making it all a bit difficult.
Yes not it is time for me to try to sleep also. I'm in the USA and it is hot here also.
Thanks for your help and interest.
Bonnie

I must have been sleepy I thought I posted this late last night

hello bonnie
my mistake with marg arnold should read 1767 that she was born.
looks to me as if james was born after 61 census was taken.
at least we know his grandparents were joseph cook b1800 and sarah arnold b1802.
we know joseph only had 2 sons james 1825 and aquilla b1839.
going to have to check up on the james born 1825 and see where he goes after 1851.
will post later

hello again
cant seem to find anything on james cook b1825 after the 1851 census.
i have a suspicion that james b1861 is going to be the son of one of the daughters.
worth sending for birth cert to be positve.

Aquilla is a guy type?  Ok :)  I wouldn't have guessed that. I will try to do some hunting on him too.

Thank you :)

hello
have already looked at aquilla and dont think he is the father of james.
aquilla married sarah ann axup in 1858.
they had a daughter born 1861 so would discount him as father of james.

Ok seems like the next step is as Lee said a birth certificate for James(1861) . Now I really feel dumb ;) The last certificate I ordered came from Lincolnshire. They has a website just for that. I have been gooling looking for a Yorkshire website. Is there one?
