Erika

Hello i like diblet do a lot of essex research i am not far from the records office and do occasionally pop in there to do some look ups for myself

I shall be popping there at some point in the kids 6 weeks holidays so if there is anything i can look up for you let me know.

i wont have time to do broad searches so if you can narrow things down a bit by then or know exactly what you want me to look for and where and when then i should be able to help

if you have never been to a records office then you wont realise that you tend to get totally absorbed and the time goes so quickly
I went to look at some poor relief records and it took me nearly 4 hours just to look at 3 years worth and i knew exactly what i was looking for haha.

or another suggestion is if you are willing to buy the fiche from the records office for the years and parish you want you can always send them onto me as i do have a fiche reader and i will read and copy up into note form for you and send it all  back to you ( all for free of course)

or as you have only been looking for a month, and by the way you have done a great job so far from what i can see, you could buy a fiche reader for at home, i bought an old one on Ebay cost me £50 inc postage and it's the best £50 i have ever spent!!! you don't need a fancy posh one mine is an old one from the 70's but it does the job

anyway let me know mate

Good luck and as Diblet say's you will  become totally obsessed and addicted! it will become more than just a passtime or hobby  ;D  ;D  ;D

Thanks Kath

At the moment I am not too sure what I am looking for as I have had to put it on hold due to having a bad turn with my health.  If I feel a bit better next week I shall have a look through my files and see if I can get some specifics and definitely take you up on your kind offer of help.

Thanks again for your offer it is really so appreciated and very kind of you.

I shall also have a look on ebay did not know you could just buy micro fische nice and cheap like that!!

Thanks again

Erika

Hi Kath

Was wondering if you stil minded having a little look for me when you go to Essex Records Office?

If so here is what I am looking for although not really sure if enough to go on.

Henry James Harvey Wells - the name is complicated on official documents he appears to give the name Henry Harvey and or Wells (the family name is harveywells but they seemed to use it as they wished) on census returns he uses James Harvey

Born around 1828 approx and gives his place of birth as East HAnningfield, then Romford.

His fathers name was also Henry and he was a Farmer

Henry Jnr married HEster Ann Sharp in 1851 Greenwich.  He had various occupations and moved a round a fair bit mainly the east end of london.

I would be so grateful if you had a look for me, it is very kind of you.  Thanks again Kath hope the weather is not as miserable as it is up here lol.

Take Care

ERika
