'Overseas' births include regimental births. There is a CONTACT US button under LOGIN. I am sure they are in a better position to help you.

Thank you Ken - that is just the sort of intelligent answer I was looking for.  I have now placed the order using the online certificate ordering function - I will post the result once I have it so that others know how to proceed with ordering Army Births prior to 1837.

Hi
I have only just seen this correspondence and wonder if anyone can help me.
I have been trying to find the record of the birth of my 2xgreat-grandfather in 1816/1817 which, I believe happened while his father was stationed in Ireland. I have found nothing in the regimetal muster rolls at Kew and a researcher in Ireland was unable to find anything in the Irish records. When his father was discharged it was recorded on the certificate that money was paid to transport him, his wife and two children home but, unfortunately, no names were given.
If anyone can give me further advice about where I might  look I would be very grateful.

I requested an 'overseas' birth on DirectGov and have now received a certified copy of my ancestor's army birth and it contained all the information I was seeking. Everyone's help is much appreciated. :)
