Robert Shepherd Todd, Durham
« on: Tuesday 20 May 08 19:35 BST (UK) »
Looking for a Robert Shepherd Todd born in Jarrow between 1903 - 1907 to William and Jane Todd.

We are unsure of the exact year of birth and have hit many brick walls trying to figure this out.

Robert has/had other brother and sisters: Margaret, John P.,  Ralph, Kate, Dorothy and Elvira. Most of this family moved to Canada in around 1927.  We know that Robert remained in Jarrow, married and had at least 2 children.  We believe his father may have been with him until his death...possibly sometime in the 1930's? (William's death, not Robert's)
We know nothing on his marriage IE; to who or when.  This information has only been handed down to us in dribs and drabs.

The family is a mystery!! ???

Any descendants out there??

Thanks Stan

I don't feel that is the Robert I am looking for.   :'(
My grandmother Dorothy Todd was born in December of 1901 and Robert was born after her.
Sometime between the years of 1903 and 1907/8 we are looking for him as the next child born to William and Jane after Robert was Elvira in 1909.

Thanks for trying.   :)

Good News!

Found him!!  He was born in 1903 and am sending for his birth record as we speak.

Also, found out that he did mary a Mary Bowers in 1926 and went on to have at least 2 children whom they called:  Robert S Todd(1926) and Margaret B. Todd (1927).

HELP!!  I think I found a marriage of Margaret B. Todd to a Joseph Lister in 1951, will confirm that at the registers office.
Anybody out there with ideas on how I can futher this?  I am not in South Shields or England.  I live in Scotland.  So apart from phoning every Todd and Lister in Jarrow...i am at a loss.

Hi. My father is Robert Shepherd Todd. Born 1926 and still alive and well for an 81 year old.  He lives in South Shields and was born there and his mam and dad were Robert and Mary.  My dads sister Margret is also alive and well and also lives in South Shields....just down the road from Jarrow. I can pass on alot more information and hope this will be helpful.  Im guessing this makes us distant cousins and i am very interested to hear more of our family tree and hopefully i can fill a few gaps for you. :)
 Hope to hear from you.

Blimey!!  A relative!!  :o

Guess we are kinda cousins.  We have been searching, what seems YEARS, to locate family from the U.K..
I am not sure how to do this...but...can you email me privately?  I (and my cousin) would really like to talk with you.  Currently I am in Scotland (long story) and my cousin is back home in Canada.  We are coming to the Jarrow area in September!

I am gonna tell me cousin right now about you (I could just KISS you).

love
Kell

Hi Kell.
I spoke to my dad today about this and he is really interested to find out more about the rest of his family.  He knows that alot of his family had moved to Canada and we have a couple of old photos of his uncle John and Elvira but there are alot of gaps to fill.  Like you i am not really sure how we contact each other now but i think email would be the best option.  Im going to pick my daughters brain about how to do this as she is a more of an internet wizz than me!!!
Will be in touch
Fiona
