Hello Joss. The gravestone at Etherley is for a Agnes wife of a vicar her husband  Thomas, died at Tunbridge Wells.

I had a look through all the inscriptions that I have and there is only one other John,  but the date of birth for him would have been 1796 ish.

With regard to the entry for Dorothy Brownbridge on page 1 of this topic - she was 16 years old & not 66 when she died.  She was the sister of my late father, Kenneth Burn Brownbridge, and the daughter of my late grandparents,  Arthur John & Mary Ellen Brownbridge late of Toft Hill.

Hello?????? I always start my message Hello and the name of the person. and always sign myself off with Adam.
I always quote the post number and the number of the  one that you are quoting  .
Regarding your post number 76 that was referring to post number 10. You will notice that I have put a question mark against the age because it was of the grey granite type that would have once had gilded letters.
Now there is no gilding and it was very difficult to read.
I have posted the surnames for 26 graveyards/cemeteries covering nearly 10,000 gravestones in Wear Valley so if you require a look up feel free to do so.

Adam

Hello Adam,

You are providing a wonderful service  in sharing this information. Could I trouble you for the Hodgson inscriptions please?

Kind regards,
