You might be able to trace their movements if settlement certificates exist for them.
Sometimes settlement examinations can give lots of interesting information.

Thank you so much - yes, I did find that marriage a little while ago and while I'm not 100% sure (can we ever be, at that early date) I am as certain as I can be that they are the right couple.  I have found a reference to a Louisa Arpin born 1769, whose father Joel was a hatter, so I think that's the connection.

Added:  Ah!  "OneBigFamily" has "Killick" mentioned as a name interest on their signature.  Not sure if they are interested in hatters, though
