Thanks for sharing the merchant seamens site.. it has given me loads of information on my grand father... my great grandfather nicholas brennan was a coastguard after he was in merchant navy although i have found out little about that time the site coastguards of yesteryear gave me great help finding out about his career as a coastguard .. its worth checking out.. thanks again...
