Tracing Grandad "JACK STUART"
« on: Sunday 11 May 08 12:23 BST (UK) »
;D
Hi,  I was wondering weather someone would be able to help me ??????????,,,
My Grandad was known to me as grandad Jack, but this is not his real first name,,,,,, I went to his grave last week & on the head stone was written "Jack Stuart", I also took the stone number,
I asked the people at the office in the cemetry if they could give me my grandads date of birth & they said that i would have to contact Lewisham registry office & they will tell me,
Will the certificate show his real name ?,, i am sure it is "Gordon Stuart"
I have his age, date of death & i make out that he was born in 1922 in Greenwich,,,
I need this info as i want to find out who my G-Grandparents were on my Grandads side as at the moment i can go no further,
Parrik tute  (Thank you)
samantha

Hi Samantha,

I just had a look at FreeBMD (http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/) and there is a Gordon A Stuart registered in March quarter 1922 Greenwich, mother's maiden name Cooper.

We could try and find which name he used when he married - Do you know the year his first child was born*, maybe even his wife's name?

 :)

*please don't post details of living persons - just birth year will do :)

Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for replying,  ;D
I think my grandad must of used his real name to get married???
I dont know when their first child was born but thats now something for me to find out,
My nanas name , his wife was Mary Ann Elizabeth Stuart, nee Taylor & she was born  in 1929 & passed away 15/02/2003.
Your info that you gave me is very positive showing the mothers maiden name to be cooper, thats very interesting & another lead for me,
Thanks anyway, is much appreciated.
