1841/1851 Norfolk census - Boughen
« on: Tuesday 18 January 05 12:33 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on a William Boughen, born c1828 in Marham, Norfolk, he married a Harriet. By the 1861 census they are living in Canning town Essex but I think they were still in Marham untill 1852

Also looking for a John Boughen, born c1791 in Marham, Norfolk, he married a Mary. Of course he could have passed on by 1841/1851 but you never know!

Any other Boughens from the Norfolk area would be of intrest to me.

Thanking you in advance,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I'm hunting along this line for a friend of mine - trying to trace down via Henry Boughen & Mary Ann Springford, and their son Albert Victor Boughen. Family recollection suggests that there is a connection to Nelson/Preston families in West Ham area as well, would love to confirm that if possible.

I am looking for Robert Boughen who married Jemima Wing in 1871 at Downham Norfolk.  They had 5 children, James, Harry, Albert Victor, Alma and Mary Priscilla.
Any help much appreciated.

My ancestors came from Marham but the name was Bowman. I have found it spelled as Beaumont, Bone etc, but I had never thought of Boughen, thanks, claytonbradley

I have found robert and Jemima in 1881/1901 census where Robert says he is born c 1844, Fincham, Norfolk.
As you know Jamimas maiden name do you have the Marriage Cert?
If so what was his Fathers name/occp?

Fincham, Norfolk
RG10/1868/95/3
Mary Bowgen, 66, Widow, Parish relief, born Fincham

1851 Census
Fincham, Norfolk
HO107/1830/669/23
Robert BOUGHAN, 42, Head, Mar, Labourer, born Stowe, Norfolk
Mary Boughan, 46, Wife, Mar, born Newell, Cambridgeshire

Harry Boughan, 2, Son, born Fincham
Philip BLY, 25, Lodger, Mar, Labourer, born Stradsett, Norfolk

Cant find them in 1841/1861

Hi Trish

Thanks for your reply.
After looking for different name spellings i found Mary (mother) and Robert in the 1861 census under Bougon.
I can't find his parents in the 1841 census though.

Kind Regards

Jenny
