Hi sdbadger,

according to the SIT, your chatter ID number had a different user name.

I think you must have changed your name since entering your names in the SIT.

see the SIT help page,
http://surname.rootschat.com/sit-help-faqs.php?lang=EN
"I can't access my names, I get 'chatter_id or chatter_name is wrong' "

I've changed it to sdbadger now :)

regards,
Bob

I am new to this site.

My direct line came from Ireland in the 1800's. There are 200 - 300 variants of my surname (Donachy)and I have no idea of what it was in Derry, Ireland.

How do I register this in the Surname Interests Table?

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

Welcome to Rootschat :)

Just add them one name at a time in the Surname Interest Table.
With 200-300 variations, you might just decide to add the 20-50 most common ocurrences - your choice :)

Click on the link [Your Surname Interests] at the bottom of any page.

regards,
Bob

I want to add 2 names which were used together by several generations - Greenwood Bland - when I try to add I am directed to click on ACTION_ADD_something or other, which I can't find. I have tried hyphenating but that gets the same response. Help please
Bland, Greenwood Bland, Ellis, Benn, Woodhead, Priestley, Illingworth, Lightowler, Platts, Boys, Bradley, O'Hara, Hall

Areas - North Bierley, Northowram, West Bowling, Horton, Shelf, Allerton, Queensbury, Haworth, Ovenden, Halifax, Luddenden, Midgley, Elland, Littleborough

Hi Dave,

it's an error !!

It should read "SAVE the edited Surname Interest" or "SAVE the new Surname Interest",
depending on whether you are adding new names or editing existing names.

Think carefully about adding two names on one line:
you will be the only one searching for "GREENWOOD BLAND".
Much better is two enter the names seperately, but add the other name in the "Comment" line.

You will probably find other GREENWOODs and other BLANDs and then you need to check your findings, to see if others are searching both names.

I'll repair the error when I get a a bit of time.

regards,
Bob

Sorry Bob
I want to enter the two names together to avoid 5 million Greenwoods contacting me. I have no interest in most of the Greenwoods. I am still unable to save the name Greenwood Bland or Greenwood-Bland

Hi Dave,

we don't have 5 million Rootschatters (yet) and contact is only through a PM at Rootschat.

I'll look into the error.
