FOX Family In Paul/Mousehole c1820.s AUSTIN /FOX

A member very  kindly responded to an earlier message  when i requested info regarding  my great grandmother ANN HALL Fox, all i knew was her date of marriage and her married surname (Tarlton) with an approx year  and place of birth on census shown as Mousehole. I now have the        Fathers name as FRANCIS FOX and mother as ELIZABETH ?
I was also informed of a brother named TREVANIAN AUSTIN Fox.
Ann went on to have a daughter she called Jessie AUSTIN FOX  Tarlton 1862, and my mother born 1906 was given the same middle name of AUSTIN.
Would love to know where these unusual names came from, i realize probably surnames incorporated into offspring but it has now got me wondering, was the tradition carried on within the family, has anyone else  found these two middle names in their famly for instance.
Its just a wild hope!!

Many thanks, what an interesting site, i've had a quick look through some of the buriels, not found any Foxes yet but if nothing else does make you realize what a lot of good immunisation did, never seen so many children die of measles!!

No, not really (as far as i know!!)
I got a real surprise, was looking at my Mums side of the family (Tarlton) who alll seemed to work in the docks and come from East London, suddenly up pops a census with my great grand parents  with great grandmother born Mousehole, husband born London. They married in London 1845 but how she came to meet him    is what went through my brain, also why move from a place like Cornwall to London, she could have moved with her parents i suppose.I have been looking through the burials for Paul church but cant find any Fox's  although i understand it is a very common name in Cornwall, but her Dad is down as Mariner, and you know what sailors are!! Maybe he didnt come from Cornwall!! I thought  maybe the best link would have been if i could find anyone with the middle names of Hall, Austin  or Fox as that is what happened with Ann Hall Fox and her brother Trevanian Austin Fox and seems to have been carried on down the line. On Ann's wedding cert one of the witnesses is an Eliza Fox maybe her Mum as  on her christening    it  says Eliz, on brothers it says Elizabh which i took fror Elizabeth, maybe she was Elizabeth/Eliza Hall or Austin. Will take your advice and look up some other sites, only really started looking on this side of the family and so far back because i got fed up with brickwalls on my Dads side Smith's

Hi Maureen,
Lots of people , including my great garnadparents, left Cornwall in the mid 1850s due to the collapse of the tin mining industry. I would think that this collapse also affected other industries (such as fishing) due to the decrease in population.
There were definately Austin families in the area.
Also the name Trevanion (Christian or Surname) was a Cornish one.
When I get a chance I will have a little forage around to see what I can find.

In the search box put Fox, there are 51 references to this name.
Then try, Austin, there are 20 to this name.
With unusual surnames like those I would think that they are at the very least some sort of relative.

Re Fox/Austin/Austen Family
They originate from Kent-Dover and Ramsgate as far as I can tell. I think there may be a connection with the sea.
My connection is through my great grandfather on my mother's  side whose sister married Stephen Austin/Austen  Fox. They had a son Stephen Trevanion Fox, and I have a great uncle named Trevanion Stephen Sheppard after him.
