Cursey Kearsey or Kersey, Lost family
« on: Wednesday 07 May 08 11:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am seeking any details with regards some of my ancestors who appear to be absent from the census.

I am seeking a Charles Cursey and his family.

Charles was the son of James Cursey b Essex and Eliza Cooke

Charles b 1853 Thundersley Essex d 1932 Maidstone, Kent.
He married Mary Tookey 1853 Thundersley
They had
Charley "Toskey" b 1876 Thundersley
Ester b 1879 Cliffe Kent
Joseph b 1881 "    "
Albert b 1883    "   "
Agnes b 1885  "    "
Arthur b 1886   "   "
Mary    b 1889  "   "
I have tried all manner of spelling and variation I can think off in relation to Cursey or Kersey etc, but I cannot locate any reference to this family who I know are my ancestors.
Can you locate them anywhere please?

I have found the following.
First the surname I have found is spelled Kearsey.
Charles Kearsey married Mary Elizabeth Tookey in Dec 1874.

in the 1881 census
2 Mill house, Cliffe, North Aylesford, Kent, England

Charles             Kearsey   born Thundersley 1853  cement laborer
Mary Elizabeth  Kearsey   born Thundersley 1854
Charles Toskey Kearsey    born Thundersley 1876
Joesph Benjamin Kearsey born Cliffe, Kent 1879
Also lodging there is what I presume is Charles Brother
Walter Robert Kearsy born Thundersley 1862 chalk laborer

in the 1891 census
29 Turner Road, Cliffe, North Ayleford, Kent, England
Charles             b1853 cement Laborer
Mary E              b 1854
Albert H            b 1883
Arthur W          b 1886
Esther              b 1879
Mary A              b 1889

and in the 1901 census
29 Turner Road, Cliffe, North Ayleford, Kent, England
Charles            b1853 cement laborer
Mary                b1854
esther              b 1879
Arthur             b1886
Mary               b 1889
Agnes             b1895

Hope that was of help, there were quite a few other Kearseys living in the same area at the same time as Charles and Elizabeth. Let me know if you need any more help

In my haste to apologize for disappearing I pressed the wrong key.
I Just wanted to say I was called away unexpectedly and will have to be away again next week.

May thanks for all infomation given.  This has proved the people did actually exist and now I can prove a link between my self and another family tree forager.
I have to say that this site has to be the best on the net for infomation given by superb searchers who faultlessly seek out what others can not.
Many thanks again.

Saturday and still sleepy, but in 1881 I found

James Kearsey 1846 Orsett Cement Mixer  m Sarah 1846 Orsett

I wonder in 1901 James had died and Sarah was the Sarah and children living with Charles.
