Hi Rootchatters
Hoping some one can help me with this lady my ggrandmother.Jane Mckay dob 1874 this is taken from thier marriage cert where she states she was 28 in 1902,she was also down as a widow and her previous married name was Reid. She married my ggrandfather James Philip Kirk on the 4.2.1902 Her father was named as John Mckay and Mary Baxter both deceased.James lived at 44 Baker st and Jane lived at 60 Broad st.I cant find a birth or death certs for her on scotlands people, belive me I have tried.
They had 3 children
James Philip Kirk dob 1902
John Mckay Kirk dob 1905 died 1905
Cecilia Kirk dob 1907
so I know she was around in 1907,the thing is she was a little bit of a fibber she is  down on numerous death certs as whitness and she changed  things like (who mother was)its been a nightmare trying to piece it together.
MY uncle told me Jane who was his nan was murderd on Stirling Common
and the children were put in care.So the question is can I find this information any where ,did she change her name .What do you think?

Hi Do Do50,

You're Jane was born 24/8/1867 to John McKay & Mary Baxter.
In the 1871 Census she is with her parents @ 31 Shore, Stirling.
In the 1881 Census she is still with her parents, now at Manor May Gates, Logie, Perthshire, can't seem to find her in 1891, but in the 1901 there is a Jane Reid at 34 Cowane Street. She is a washerwomen with two children, named Mary b.1898 and Isabella b.1900. Hope that is of some help
