Hi Gadget,
Is there any chance you could find the 1891/1901 Cenus For George & Sarah Currie. Their Children,
Charles ,Born about 1876, Irvine
Agnes,   Born About !877, Ayr
George, Born about, 1880, Irvine
Samuel, Born About, 1881, Irvine
I am following the line of Samuels son George Manson Currie b, 30/11/1908. Samuel was married to Mary Brown Manson on 29/10/1908. I don,y know yet if Samuel and Mary had any more children. It seems odd that Gordon or Morrison Surname has,nt turned up in any childrens names.

Hi Scully

I'm having problems trying to find Samuel on the 1901 census. I notice that he married in Ayr, so he may not have gone far. It might be wrongly entered or, possibly was serving in the Boer war, at sea, etc.

What was his occupation on the marriage cert?

Re: Samuel Currie.
I have Samuel in my family, I have searched over the years and am pretty sure our Samuels are the same.
My Details are:
Samuel born 1882 to George Currie and Sarah Irvine (Irving) living at 8 Reids Square in 1891 census.
Samuel was a private and drummer in the Boer War 1899 to 1902.
I have found the marriage to Mary Manson in 1908.
Did Mary die before 1915?
I have Samuel married to my great aunt Ann Watson in Inverness , bachelor, on 27/12/1915. At this time he was stationed at Newton Camp at Cromarty, Scotland, My great aunt lived in Cromarty.
He is with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders service number 6936. Parents George Currie and Sarah Irvine ( Irving).
Hr has a medal record to 1916.
My great aunt Ann Watson remarried in Inverness 25/02/1919 and she listed as a widow. I have never been able to find a death certificate for Samuel despite several years searching.

Are you able to solve my puzzle re Samuel or was he a bigamist?

Regards from NZ

Hi Min Walker,
I,m having the same trouble finding Samuel & Marys deaths. I have Samuel & Mary on the 1911 Census said he was a labourer with George aged 2 & Agnes 1, Living at  67, Mill Street, Ayr. I found the death of another son John Mason who died on the 27th of September 1913 at 30, King Street. It seems Mary was still alive then.  Their son George married my moms sister Agnes Young. I,ll keep digging. My e-mail is  (*)

Hi Scully,

I found Mary's death; age: 67
4th January 1951 at 10A, McLean Street, Ayr. Present, son, George Currie of 34, Lochside Road, Ayr.
Parents John Manson - Boilermaker and Elizabeth Manson nee Aird, both deceased. Died of Chronic Bronchitis and Myocarditis and Asthma. Registered at St. Quivox. Name given: Mary Russell Currie married to Samuel Currie, which seems to indicate that Samuel was still alive in 1951.
In their marriage cert. Mary's parents are given as John Manson = boilermaker and Elizabeth Manson nee Russell.
I am continuing to search for Samuel's death as I have been going on my great aunt Ann Watson 22nd marriage she is listed as a widow and I presumed that Samuel had died in WW1
I have searched WW1 records for him many times. Am I chasing the wrong Samuel Currie whose parents are also George Currie and Sarah Irvine ???
