Got some credits and looked at Hannah Currie's birth. She was 8 in 1881 1891.

Hannah Hannes (?) Currie, b. December 17th 1881. Parents Charles Currie, mason's labourer, and Jane Morrison. Married July 11th 1855 in Irvine?

Can't see anything like that 1855 date on the IGI. ???

Same date showing on Sarah Irvine Currie's birth. She was born the 15th February 1878 in Ayr.

Also found the birth reg of Sarah b.c. 1878:

Sarah Irvine Currie, 13 Feb 1878, Reid Square, St Quivox.

Parents - Charles Currie, masons labourer and Jane, m.s. Morrison.

Again, marriage given as 11 July 1855, Irvine. Would it be by declaration  :-\

I wonder if Jane's mother was Morrison?

Although I checked last night for a marriage, I've checked again for 1855 with all 3 surnames - just Cha c*r*, then j Mor*son, then j g*rd*n.

I think it must have been a common law marriage.

I've been following up the Agnes Gordon, aged 56 on the 1861. There is a possible on the 1851, a washerwoman,  with a daughter Janet, aged 8. but I'm not sure.

I just wonder whether we're up against the old Scottish system of giving children the father's surname and Jane's father was a Morrison  :-\

I'm busy from now and over the weekend so can't do much more.

Just been looking at the Greenwoods from the 1881 census:

Ann- b. 5 Feb 1865

John - b. 4 July 1862

Both Ayr. both parents - John Greenwood and Mary Ralston

Interestingly, the father of the Margaret Greenwood that i found in Ayr was John:

Margaret - b. 5 June 1860 - John Greenwood and Mary Gordon
