Armstrongs of North Deighton
« on: Tuesday 29 April 08 11:43 BST (UK) »
Hello All,
Does anyone have any info regarding a James Armstrong (from Scotland?) who wed Mary, born about 1752 in North Deighton. Her surname is unknown.
This couple had 2 children; George b about 1782 & James b about 1784 - birthplaces unknown.
In approx 1768, Mary was working for William Hornby, Yeoman of N. Deighton.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi castlebob

I have a book of the Parish Registers of Kirk Deighton 1600 to 1837, North Deighton is in this parish. There is no marriage for James Armstrong.

Searching the IGI there is a marriage of a James Armstrong to Mary Tate 28 Jan 1771 All Saints, Pavement and Saint Peter the Little, York
York is 15 miles from North Deighton so this record is worth checking. There is a baptism for Mary Tate in Kirk Deighton 4th Nov 1748 the daughter of my 5th Gt Grandparents William Tate and Isabel Stead of North Deighton.
