SMITH/MCANDREW
« on: Friday 25 April 08 16:24 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on Thomas Smith. His father was a McAndrew, but because his mother was another religion, they didn't marry until later and the family took the Smith name.

Have been told that they lived at Casle Ward, Gosforth, but can find no family with the mixed names. Thomas was a male nurse at the lunatic asylum in later life and married Annie J Watson.

Anyone with any help would be solving a huge headache!! Please feel free to get in touch.

Hello Unicorn  -  welcome to Rootschat   ;D

You'll find everyone on here very helpful and willing   :D

However - to get the best results you need to be a tad more specific - for example - do you have a date of birth?  Even a rough guess would be better than nothing - are we looking for him in 1850 or 1890 and 1910 - for example?

Hi Mum44

From FreeBMD, Annie J Watson married Thomas Smith in Newcastle in 1924.

Hope that helps a bit...

DS ;)

That's great! Thanks for the year - it really helps. At least I can try the marriage certificate for pointers.

Sorry to be so vague! Annie J Watson & Thomas Smith had a son in 1925, so that kind of gives an idea of the ages I'm hoping for.

The only other info I have is that the Mothers name may have been Annie Smith (not exactly narrowing things down for me), and they were from County Mayo originally. I believe that Thomas was the eldest son, keeping his mothers name as it was before the wedding.
