HI Viper

When using IGI, from your search results, once you click on an individual entry you will see in a section further down the page 'Messages'. This will detail whether the entry you are looking at is an actual extract from official records (Old Parish Registers or Official Registers post 1855) or an entry submitted by a member of the LDS Church. No information included unfortunately as to who submitted the data: Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.

Can't see anything of these McPherson entries in the Ancestral Files or Pedigree Resource Files. Will be impossible to determine who submitted the data from the entries as they stand.

Monica

Added: The point I was making earlier is that someone must have been researching the same line to have submitted the data that we are seeing.

It would seem from the submitted IGI entries, that someone has already been researching this McPherson (and/or the Baxter line). This looks like a submitted entry for Sarah Baxter's birth:

Sarah Baxter Christening:  22 NOV 1835  Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church, , Antrim, Ireland
Parents:Robert Baxter and Sarah Robinson

And siblings, also all submitted entries:

5. Robert Baxter Christening: 25 NOV 1827 Ballynure, Antrim, Ireland
1. James Baxter  Birth: 18 JUL 1830 Of, Ballyeaston, Antrim, Ireland
2. Henderson Baxter Christening: 14 APR 1833 Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church, , Antrim, Ireland
4. Jane Baxter  Christening: 10 APR 1838 Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church, , Antrim, Ireland
6. Thomas Baxter Christening: 06 JUL 1851 Carnmoney, Antrim, Ireland

I would imagine that your great grandmother Sarah McBride was called after Louisa's mother.

Monica

Monica, how can you tell that someone else has been searching for this same record?

And as an addition to that, is there anyway of finding out who actually searched for that particular record? Just in case there is someone else who is also looking for the same family roots, which in turn could unturn a few more stones???

Hi

The above records would have come from Baptismal Records of a Church which would have been Microfilmed by the Public Records Office in Belfast and then copied by LDS.

The date of Christening could be the date of birth.

Hi John

The entries as shown are down as submitted entries by an LDS member, not actual extract by the LDS. Certainly their source is probably as you say. The dates are specific, so likely someone researching the family has obtained the data from an official source. LDS is always quite clear whether the entries are those that they themselves have taken from film or submitted by a member.

Hi Laura
I read all this with interest, as i am also researching the McBride tree from Ayrshire. I am a desecendant from Sarah McBride who married John O'Connor. Sarah was the sister to Hannah McBride who married Evan Dillon.

I have tried to locate Sarah and Hannah's father and mother's death certificates, to no avail. I know that Hannah (the mother) was dead between 1861 (when she lived in Ayr in the census) and Sarah's wedding in 1863, where both parents are listed as deceased.

I wondered if you had any luck with being able to trace your tree further back?

Kind regards
Charlotte

Hi Charlotte

Hannah's death is showing on SP, but her son John who reported the death in 1861 may not have made a great job of giving information to the registrar.

Her death in 1861, at 245 High Street where the family were living in 1861, gives her age as 76 yet the earlier censuses indicate she was born c. 1811.

John her husband shows as deceased, a carter by occupation. No mother's details given for  her, just father John and the family surname has been entered as McKay (I've seen some info onl line that gave her maiden name as McCoy).

Hi Monica
Thanks v much for your help.

I have now located the death on SP. I originally dismissed it because of the age.

Thanks again
Charlotte

Hi Charlotte

All the info i have is through roots chat, especially with the help of monica, as my family never really talked about the past, due to the circumstances. However, it would be lovely to hear from you to discuss the link further!!
