Just some more info for Laura; Louisa died 1950, aged 84. John died three years later in 1953, also aged 84. Both certificates are available to view on ScotlandsPeople.

There's an also a submitted birth on Familysearch (mentioned by Steve earlier) for Louisa; 6th December 1865 Mooltan, West Bengal, India. Parents match marriage certificate.

From the 1871 Census, this looks to be John McBride. The index has him transcribed as McClivie but SP shows MCBRIDE:

Unusual that John isn't with his mother in 1871. I know there isn't any other name on the marriage certificate for her, besides McBride, but I wonder if this is her marriage?

I can't get a handle on Hannah McBride as yet. There are a couple of Hannah (and variants) McBrides who are servants in Ayrshire in both 1871/81.  I wondered if this was also why John was boarding if mother Hannah was a living in domestic servant somewhere in Ayrshire.

I can't see Evan (I think it is probably meant to be EWAN) Dillon and Hannah in the 1871 census index Hannah was 19 at the time of the marriage in April and John Spiers McBride in March, soooo always a possibility.....

Now was John SPIERS McBride called after him as the father or a friend/relative - I couldn't possibly figure that one out  If he was the father of Hannah's child, he surely wouldn't be a witness at her marriage a month after son was born surely....
