FINCHAMS of Lakenheath Suffolk
« on: Thursday 24 April 08 20:04 BST (UK) »
Hello!
Being a bit green at all this I would appreciate some help... I am looking for the Finchams of Lakenheath.I have got back to William Fincham b 1869 married to Elizabeth Fayers b 1872, think I am still on the right track as his parents were Joseph b 1843 married to Emily b 1846, then it all gets a bit sticky... I have got his parents as Lot Fincham b 1801 married to Mary Peachy b 1806. Before I go any further I really need to know if this is correct, or am I barking up the wrong tree ( no pun intended!)
I have been contacted by someone as I have turned up in their family tree but the information they have is that Josephs father was in fact Isaac Fincham, and they get back another 2 generations!!
I have looked and looked but just cannot find out which line is true, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Robin

Welcome Robin (and Hi Tazzie)

I think the boy with parents Isaac and Susannah was called James and born in Mildenhall ...

Agree with Tazzie that yours is Lot  :)

Wow! That was mega quick, thank you so much Tazzie!
Siblings of Joseph, Mary Anne, John, Francis,Eliza, sarah, Hannah and Robert. So glad I am on the right track, it was getting really frustrating!
I have also found on the parish register info the baptism of a Lot Fincham on 26th Dec 1796, at St Peters in Brandon, which is not a million miles away. it has Lots parents as Francis Fincham and Mary Fuller. Am I being too hopeful? Its quite an unusual christian name so ...
Thank you so much
Robin

I have a suspect for Joseph's wife Emily!

Marriage Jun quarter 1864 Mildenhall 4a 695
Joseph Finchham to possibly Emily Martha Johnson (she's misindexed on FreeBMD)

 :)

1851
HO107/1793 291 29
Lakenheath, Suffolk
Death Lane

Henry Johnson Hensby, head, 32, Carter, birthplace not known
Martha, wife, 32, b. Lakenheath
Emily Martha, dau, 6, b. do.
John, son, 3, b. do.
Alfred, son, 2, b. do.

Must check if they use Johnson or Hensby on other census!
Added: He uses Hensby in 1861 census but married as Johnson:
Jun 1844 Mildenhall 13 711 Henry Hensby Johnson - Martha Brown

Thank you guys so much :), its great when it all comes together eh?? Dont think I would fancy living on Death Lane though!!
Lots daughter Sarah b 1844 married a John Peachy they went on to have 10 children, the 2 familys seem well linked.
I am so so glad I found this site, Thank you again

Just for the record ... Emily's mother Martha Hensby Johnson seems to remarry in 1868. Groom: William Fincham!
