Hi Fifer,

   Quite possibly a connection.  It's some time since I looked at Burke's when I concentrated on the period circa 1800 and ended up with the Marquis of Londonderry.  Your other link made interesting reading. Now if that were about 77 years ealier it could have given our family story a bit more creedance. The whole thing is a complete mystetry and will probably remain so.  Whether the story has its roots in illegitimacy and was blown out of all proportion it's hard to say. I have nothing concrete to support or dispute it. It's just one of those things I've been trifling with on and off for some time.
