Alison,

You asked many things in your initial message on this thread, one being the following.....

Laurence James 1856 born Drogheda,Louth,Ireland he married a Mary ? I would like to find her information

I think I have found Lawrence and family in the 1891 and 1901 censuses.

1891 Census
RG12/ 2960/ 98/ 37
 Kirkdale, Lancashire, England

Lawrence Halpin 36 Head Lard refiner born Birkenhead, Cheshire
Mary E Halpin 34  Wife born Liverpool, Lancashire
John H Halpin 16  Son Assistant Bookeeper born Liverpool, Lancashire
Lawrence J Halpin 11 Son born Liverpool, Lancashire
Bertie Halpin 3  son born Liverpool, Lancashire
George V Halpin 1 son born Liverpool, Lancashire
Jane Lea 56  Boarder widow living on her own means born Liverpool, Lancashire

1901
RG13/ 3467/ 69/ 10
Kirkdale, Lancashire, England
15 Netley St

Lawrence Halpin 46  head Oil Refiner on own acc born Ireland
Mary E Halpin 46  wife
Lawrence J Halpin 20 son
Bertie Halpin 13 son
Flora M Halpin 8  daur
Henrietta Halpin 6  daur
George V Halpin 3 son
All others born Liverpool.

If this is indeed Lawrence and family, then the following marriage is on FreeBMD.....

Lawrence HALPIN married Sep 1874 Mary Ellen Lea    W. Derby  8b/748

Just had another find for you, Alison.

If you go to
http://www.pictureaustralia.org/
and enter Halpin into the search engine, among the images that come up you will find one of Lawrence Halpin, son of Patrick and Teresa, and also another photo of a board put together for the Albermain RSL that contains Lawrence's photo.

Hi there!

This is so funny! You should have asked me - I am the grandson of Laurence Ambrose Halpin, great-grandson of Bernard Joseph (Barney) Halpin, great-great grandson of Patrick Halpin, and great-great-great grandson of John Halpin!

I had done this research already tee hee but it was wonderful to see it all confirmed when I came upon it just now, several months after your hard work. Well done! I have some answers to your questions, as well as an extra mystery...

What happened to Patrick after he abandoned his family in 1901!?!?
