Dee and Trish

Just found the Halpin tree on OneWorldTree on Ancestry, it will explain a few things, you might like to check it out to save you some trawling through the indexes.

Alison should be able to tell you whether or not she has a lot of this info already when she comes back on.

Thanks Cazay.....so according to the OneWorldTree, Bernard Joseph Halpin was the earlier son of Patrick Halpin and Teresa Connelly.

So that will be brother Barney mentioned in the WW1 record of Lawrence Ambrose/Andrew Halpin.

I've never read/taken infor from ancestry trees - is it real or someone's best guess? Do we have an "earlier son" without a birth record? Death record?

Here is a 1955 death
33075/1955  HALPIN  JOSEPH BERNARD  THOMAS  THERESA  BELMONT

Is Thomas = Patrick?

I take OneWorldTrees as a starting point, Trish......and again it has worked! I just looked up births for 1888 with given name of Bernard....and bingo!

Mistranscription or recording again.....

BERNARD I  ALPIN to  PATRICK & TEREZA in CESSNOCK in 1888
Ref = 27436/1888

Hooray - thought it was strange that there was such a gap between marriage and birth reg of first child.

Cando and Alison and Trish,

This may be two different Vera M Halpins, as the OneWorldTree has a Vera M Haplin born 1911 as a daughter of Bernard Joseph Haplin and Florence May Hedley. It has her married to William James Colvin. Vera Theresa, daughter of Patrick,  is married to Joseph Oliver Grills.

Well found Dee - I'm never very good on the misspellings (and I was looking on my CD - which only starts in 1889  >:(  - not very smart)
