Twyerould Family
« on: Wednesday 16 April 08 13:57 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Twyerould family at present.

Joseph Twyerould was born in Clayton in 1838. His parents were Joseph Twyerould who was born (I believe) in Cheshire and Esther Houpler born in Cowclough (spelling is rather difficult to decipher on the birth certificate).

Given the complicated name, I find different branches of the family with very different spellings throughout the 19th century. However, I cannot find them in 1841.

At least one of the siblings emigrated to Australia.

I was wondering 1) if anyone else has an interest in this family and 2) if anyone can find them in 1841.

Just looked at the image. Definitely the right family as father's occupation matches that of the birth certificate.

Looks like the original was mis-transcribed as I read Twyerould on the image and no Swysworth.

Hi Jaggy and Welcome to the forum  ;D

How did they get from Twyerould to Swysworth?????

It happens often  :-\  bit like a Chinese whisper, as by the time we see the on-line transcription the original record, which was taken "at the door" shall we say has been transcribed about 4 times ??? and they destroyed the "at the door" info early on !!!

Often like this time, it's probably 'cos a foreign national is making the translation, once you look at the original it's easily solved, as you did !

Hi. My name is Shirley Clark. My maiden name is Twyerould from John Twyerould who emigrated to Australia in 1800s. I have a plethora of information on the Australian side of the Twyerould family as well as a bunch of other photos, clippings and genealogy bits here in Australia. I am still actively looking for various pieces of info to fill in so would love to share info on our family.

Thank you

Shirley Clark

Hi Shirley,

The original poster hasn't been online since 2010 but hopefully will get a notification that you have posted on this topic.

If you make another couple of posts you will be able to send jaggy a personal message.
