That marriage you found is correct.  Sophia Lewis mar James Burt, Mar 1834 then mar Joseph Austen Apr 1838.

Many thanks for your reply also.  These Austens would be a lot easier to find and figure out if they didn't name the sons after the fathers.  Am trying to find original passenger list but no luck so far.

Do you have Joseph's marriage cerificate showing his father was Joseph?

Also couldn't the Joseph death in 1890 be this son of Joseph and Sophia born...

Yes the death in 1893 is for the Joseph b1853, son of Joseph and Sophia and no I don't have the marriage certificate unfortunately.
