Can anyone help with this photograph of my wifes great grandfather George Hoy

I was amazed to see what can be done .

best I do with a small image, it may be possible to do a little better
if you scan at a min of 300dpi or even 500dpi.

I agree with Mike.. a higher dpi scan and select high quality/no compression will give you a much better restore though Mike has already done a very good job 

PLUS you will be able to print out a decent size copy

I puzzled over the 300 - 500 pi   Higher compression and higher dpi scan.

Eventually I found on my Lexmark advanced settings and scanned at 600  the nearest available .  Then I tried out the variopus settings.
