If you try and search the 1851 or 1861 census you may be able to get a general location. Perhaps if you give some names then others may be able to check for you

HI

Just been googling and found that Swash Land as it was known is within the area of Goose Hill, Beck lane, Cemetery Road - not exact but gives you an idea.

All these places can still be found in Hecky today.

Not sure on the other place name.  Is there any chance you could give us the person's name and then maybe we can find them on the 1861 census if they were in the area then.

Thanks Wendy, the Swashland info is very interesting. With reference to the other place name being Depaiva Lane, this was listed as the deceased place of death.I have searched the 1861 census records but unfortunately the gentleman concerned lived at a totally different address.I am currently trying to trace this Depaiva Lane on the 1861 census.
    Many thanks,Broady.

HI Broady

Hope you don't think I'm being rude but is the death cert written clearly or is Depaiva your transcription of what you can make out?

According to White's Directory of 1857, Henry De Paiva was a woollen yarn spinner, situated at Walkley Lane, so perhaps De Paiva Lane was in that vicinity. Walkley Lane runs from Beck Lane towards Dewsbury.
