Hi Cee
In the 1841 census there's an Elliott Oughton age 35 (which means 35-39 as ages over 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 below in 1841) occupation plumber; Susan Oughton 35. Both born in Cambs (although the birth county is often inaccurate in 1841). No sign of any children.
Cambs FHS has an excellent website which includes baptism and burial indexes 1801-37 at
http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html. Elliott and Susan baptised one child and buried another in Wisbech.
FreeBMD at
http://freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl shows an Elliot Oughton dying in the Sept quarter 1842 in Wisbech registration district, although this could be the father, if details of him being a plumber and glazier
deceased were taken from the 1843 marriage of William
So it doesn't appear that this Elliott and Susan had surviving children.
I can't see any evidence that Elliott senior and Ann had a connection with Cambs, although Walpole St Peter, Norfolk is only 6 miles from Wisbech, Cambs. The baptism index shows no entries, and the birthplace of their known children were either Walpole St Peter or Lynn per censuses. They seem to have moved to Walpole St Peter c1811-13.
Maria Cranfield appears to have been the second wife of William Oughton as in 1841 he is shown as a glazier, 35, with wife (presumably) Eliza 25 and presumably son William 1. There was a death of an Eliza Oughton in Wisbech registration district, which includes Walpole St Peter, in Sept quarter 1842
Interestingly there are deaths of an Elliot Oughton in Kings Lynn registration district in March quarter 1848 and in Wisbech registration district in March 1850 . It would need the death certs of these Elliotts to see from the age, and possibly the informant, if either was the Elliott born c1775, or if the later one was the assumed son.
There was also a Thomas Portwood living 3 doors away from Caroline Oughton in Walpole St Peter in 1841, and later in Wisbech, with a wife Maria born c1811 at Lynn, Norfolk, with a son Elliott born c1839 at Walpole. I believe Maria may have been another child of Elliott and Ann, as a tree on Rootsweb shows this, although with no supporting evidence.
But Kings Lynn Norfolk seems to be your starting point with the Oughtons as that's where Elliott married, and where his wife was born. Have you checked the marriage entry to see if a parish of residence was given, and to see who the witnesses were? Perhaps the Norfolk board might be able to offer more advice than the Cambs board
