Hello,

The IGI www.familysearch.org has an 'extracted' record of their marriage on.

14 JUL 1854 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland.  A copy of the marriage extract can be found at the pay per view site www.scotlandspeople.go.uk   Away to look for all children.

:O)
A quick look on the IGI shows no children born in the UK and he ? doesn't appear on the 1841 census?  at www.freecen.org.uk

What other info do you have on him please?

They emigrated to Tasmania, Australia and their children were born there. They emigrated between 1854 and 1857. Thanks for your prompt response. Maxene

From the entry in the Old Parish Register of Marriages for Glasgow for 1854 :

"Andrew James Keltie, Engineer in Glasgow, & Sarah Jamieson residing there, married 14th July by Mr Archibald Watson, Minister of St Matthew's Church, Glasgow."

There are no Andrew Kelties recorded as being born in Scotland in the firt half of the 19th century. (But that proves nothing, as it was not compulsory in Scotland to register births until 1855). The nearest ones date-wise are :

Andrew Keltie born 10 Sept 1799 to Andrew Keltie & Elizabeth Gibson in Perth

Andrew Keltie born 25 May 1783 to David Keltie (mother not named) in Fossoway and Tulliebole

Andrew Keltie born 7 July 1776 to David Keltie (mother not named) in Fossoway and Tulliebole.

There was one recorded in 1806 with the spelling Kelty :

Andrew Kelty born 3 July 1806 to Andrew Kelty & Elspet Wardlaw in Dunfermline.

The 1841 Census for Fossoway & Tulliebole shows residing at Middle Coldrain :

And'w J Keltie, aged 8
Janet Keltie, aged 14
Christian Keltie, aged 20
Wm G Keltie, aged 25, occupation Ag. Lab.
Isabella Keltie, aged 50
David Keltie, aged 60 (or 61 depending on how you interpret the writing), Farmer

The census entry indicates that Isabella and David Keltie were born in Scotland; but And'w J and the other three were apparently born in England.

I haven't found an entry (yet) for Andrew, but Janet, Christian and William were all born in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, on 1 April 1807, 30 Jan 1820 and 25 Sep 1814 respectively. There was also an Adam born 5 May 1816 and an Isabella born 7 Dec 1817.

Although one can't say for sure at this stage, you would have to think that Andrew J Keltie was possibly himself born in Rickmansworth, and that David Keltie and Isabella could be his parents.

Maxene, do you have his Australian death certificate? This may give parent's names and age at death which may indicate dob.
