Eliza Shrimpton was baptised in Amersham 2nd March 1842 (born 1839 Chesham) the illegitimate daughter of Harriett Shrimpton who married Matthew Darvill, a labourer, on 7th May 1846 at the Lower Baptist Chapel in Amersham, though both were of Chesham. Harriett and Eliza were in Amersham workhouse on the 1841 census. On the 1851 census Eliza was in Chesham the niece (more likely step granddaughter) of Joseph Darvill.
