Well, no such luck.  I didn't see any McKeggs, McCaigs, or the like. 
Back to square one I suppose.

Sorry for taking so long to get back McCann.  If the father of Eliza's daughter was Irish I think the surname would have to be some sort of variant of McKegg rather than McKegg itself.  He may not have been from the same area as Eliza so I dont think its necessary to find all three surnames in the same place. 

It might be worth posting something to the Donegal forum.  Something on the lines that you have an Elizabeth 'Eliza' Given born 1850-1852, parents Robert Given and Ann Dane/Downs or variant spelling and you are trying to identify whether its possible they may have been from the Dunkineely area.  I could be way off but it wont hurt to try.

If you type 'McKegg' and put in 'Ireland' in search page at www.familysearch.org lots of varients come up.

McCann- if you do decide to post something on Donegal board it would be a good idea to post a link to this post to save duplication.

I know it doesnt exactly look like it but soundwise Dunkineely, Co. Donegal, perhaps.

I'd be inclined to forget about the Kerry and Mayo place names. DonnyB's idea about a Donegal place name makes sense as large numbers of Donegal people headed to Glasgow. 

McKegg might also be McKeag, McCaig, McKeague, etc.

McKeague ... comes from Counties Antrim, Derry and Donegal

McKeag is a more popular surname in Co. Down
