Trade directory - HAYES
« on: Monday 07 April 08 19:58 BST (UK) »
Has anyone please got a Trade Directory for Cambridge City circa 1935?  I am urgently looking for a Herbert Hayes Optician.  Many thanks mrswoman.

Hi, Mrswoman,
Was very briefly in the Cambridge County Record Office today, so had a look in Spalding's Directory of Cambridge for 1935/6 under Opticians.  There were 14 names listed there, but unfortunately not your HAYES man.  The nearest entry was HYMANS and COX at 7, St Andrews St.
Couldn't find him back to 1930, nor up to 1937...
Very best wishes,
keith

That's most kind of you Keith, many thanks indeed for taking the time, at least I now know he wasn't there in that time frame.  Best Wishes from mrswoman.

Mrswoman,
If you discover any more precise dates or details on him, I'd be happy to have another look in the directories there next time I pay a visit...
Regards,
keith

Thanks again Keith, will give Herbert some more thought, of course he could have lived in Cambridige County rather than the City!!  Much appreciate your help, it's not easy to search when you are not local.  All best wishes from mrswoman.
