Hello all
I'm looking for information on my great-great-great grandparents. My GGG grandfather, William Eason Eldred, was born around 1812 in Spalding. His marriage certificate states he was illegitimate, but I wonder whether Eason might have been the surname of his father as it's a rather unusual Christian name.
On 25/11/1846 he married Mary Ann Ketton (Kitton, Kellon or Kelton depending on your interpretation of the handwriting!) Her father's name is given as Jacob and he was a labourer. One of the witnesses was Louisa, who I presume was Mary Ann's sister or sister-in-law.
On my GG grandmother Elizabeth's birth certificate (14/12/1847), Mary Ann's maiden name is listed as Kirton.
Mary Ann died young, at 34, of bronchitis and premature labour. The informant of the death was Elizabeth Kirton. She was buried on 19 March 1857 in Moulton All Saints. Her husband William lived to the ripe old age of 74 and is also buried in Moulton All Saints.
I'd be grateful for any help you could give me to figure out the proper maiden name for Mary Ann so I can trace her family. I'd also be interested if anyone knows of an Eason family in the Spalding area.
Thanks for your help.
