Passengers on Great Eastern 1861

Hi, can anyone help with how to get a list of passengers on the Great Eastern from Liverpool to Quebec in early 1861. It carried something over 2000 soldiers and their families. The boat was chartered for this its second voyage to rush troops to defend the Canadian border. I am especially interested in the 4th company, 60th rifles but a list of names alone would be a great start as I belive an ancestor started his Canadian emigration on this trip as a young soldier.

Hi Freya.  Did you ever find a copy of the Great Eastern passenger list that you were looking for a number of years ago?  I have an ancestor who came over on that ship in July 1861 and I'm hunting for the same list.   Please let me know.  Thanks,

Ted, I never really got any further. It seems that the problem in my case was that the soldiers sent to Canada at that time were effectively only recorded as a group and not as individuals. Looks like I have to assume he was on it as he left at the right time and arrived at the right time and was in the right regiment. Thats about it I am afraid. Best Wishes, Freya
