My wife's elderly aunt died recently and among her possessions was a little book called "The Early History of the Mornington Peninsula". It makes no claims to be an in-depth history but does contain quite a number of names of early settlers in that region, including a list of the names of the first residents of Schnapper Point (now Mornington).
I am happy to look for any names anyone might be interested in.

Is the author of the book George Hunter Rogers by an chance?
"George Hunter Rogers, Melbourne: “The Port Phillip Settlement” 1956, “Early History of the Mornington Peninsula” 1957."
He was married but had no family, one brother had children but family in Ireland has lost touch with them.

That's the one.
Calls himself Hunter Rogers on the book and on the couple of pencil sketches of the peninsula that we have
The sketches actually came from my wife's mother who was a friend of his.

George Hunter Rogers (1896-1985) was a cartographer during World War I. Also a writer and historian.
One brother William Stirling "Bill" Rogers, artist?, lived in London- had a son (d.bef.1985?) and a daughter.

Hunter and Roger families originally from Aghadowey Parish, County Londonderry, Ireland. Have been trying to get more details on this branch of the family for years.

By any chance are there any personal details mentioned in the book? (send pm if you don't want to put anything on this thread)

The name of the author of the book is given as Hunter Rogers as it is on another little book he wrote called Tanti,
which is an historical story of the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port. Interestingly the inscription that he wrote on that   book was from Hunter and Tanti. Tanti is the name of the chief character in the book.
In the Early History there is a frontispiece which is a map drawn by G. Hunter Rogers -almost certainly George, I would say. Towards the end of the book the author mentions George Hunter Rogers  " my father who lived in Dromana for some years". In the list of residents of Schnapper Point in 1858 there is a John Rogers but no mention of any relationship.
A John Rogers is mentioned again in the Tanti book as the lessee of a place called Sandstone Island and together with a man named McCaffie he "developed an oyster bed and sent dried fish to Melbourne".
I don't know whether any of this is of any help. I think I have found all references to the name Rogers in both books but should I come across any more I will let you know. My wife has friends and family still on the peninsula and next time she talks to any of them she will ask if they have any information.

son of James Rogers (1819-1897) & Ann Hunter (1831-1908)
Note: 3 Rogers married 3 Hunters.
1897- state school teacher at Dromana
married Isabella Wilhelmina Stirling
(1865 Sandhurst-1938 East Malvern, Melbourne, Victoria)

Well I am interested.
Born and bred on the Mornington Peninsula 
Born at Dromana Hospital and grew up at Rosebud.
But my family didn't move there until 1940's I think, I can check.

Hi Aghadowey,
Do you know if any of the Roger family stayed on the Peninsula.
My brother is mates with a Rogers.  I actually saw him last year at my other brothers 60th birthday at Mornington.  Even have a photo of him.
But I think he lives in WA, use to do the Rodeo circuit.  My brother stays in touch with him.
Would you like me to ask my brother if his 'Rogers' mate knows anything about his family history?

I was also best friends with a Stirling, lost contact after she married an army guy and moved around a bit.  She was from Portsea.
