Josiah Whitehead c1831

Hi,
Trying to find details of a death for Josiah Whithead. He is on the 1871 census(as William) with his wife Emma. However she is a widow on the 1881 census. I believe he was born in Yorkshire(? Greetland father named John) but he lived in Lancashire in Chorlton.

Have you checked freebmd  http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

If it has not been transcribed ou will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library.   It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

I did a quick search on FreeBDM.org and the nearest match I could find was:

March Qtr 1880
Whitehead William, 52Yrs old, Chorlton 8c 493

P.S.

I also checked familyrelatives.com (which is a pay site, on which you can view the actual GRO book pages) & confirmed that this is probably your 'William WHITEHEAD'

Many thanks for your reply.
That could be a possibility but all other documents have him as Josiah. However there is a death for a Josiah Butterworth Whitehead in 1878 but is in Worcestershire!!
Guess we'll just have to send off for both certificates!
