Nelly/Nellie Blake b.1901-1911 Lambeth/Southwark
« on: Saturday 15 January 05 01:34 GMT (UK) »
Am looking for the birth of Nelly/Nellie Blake between 1901-1911 in Lambeth/Southwark. Her parents would have been James and Caroline Blake.  They were married in Lambeth 25/12/1901 and I believe Nelly/Nellie was their first child.
Noone knows much about her and it's believed she died in infancy.  Their second child Phyllis was born in Southwark in 1911 so I believe they went from one place to the other.

I suppose she could have been Eleanor or any other variation?

Thank you,

Regards, Emma  ;)

A possibility I guess, but I don't suppose I will ever find out unless I go and trawl through the records!  I'd guess though that she would have been born after 1901 and probably died before 1911 although I can't be certain of that either!  Unfortunately my Grandfather and his two siblings are no longer with us to ask...should have asked them while they were here!!

If I search for long enough...!  ::)

My grandmother was Mary Ellen (Blake, funnily enough, but born 1894 in Cheshire) but always known as Nell - she hated her real names!

I have a nellie whose name was Sarah Ellen Ada so you may need to search through dates and try to find something that links her to your family, a place or common name.

That's just it....My Great Grandparents married in Lambeth 25/12/1901, their 'first'child Phyllis was born 09/03/1911 in Southwark.  Huge time span, huge area!

I'll just keep searching!

Thanks,

Regards, Emma ;)

Hi Emma,
Just did a search of freebmd and found a Nellie in Lambeth but no James and Caroline marriage and no Phillis in Southwark. If you want to check out Nellie here are the details

Births Sept 1906

Blake    Nellie         Lambeth    1d   339

This may be worth checking on.

Hi Rosanne,

Thanks for looking that up for me, she does fall within the right time period.  Also think she was definitely called Nellie as I've never heard her referred to by any other variation.  Will have to save up to apply for a certificate...oh the expense!!

Thanks again,

Regards, Emma ;)
