Has anyone come across the Wedderspoon (or similar spelling) family in the 1790s in Newcastle?
John Wedderspoon, mariner, poss. from Scotland m. Esther Allison in Bishopswearmouth, 1790.
dau. Mary b. 1791 Sunderland, m. John Urwin 1816
son John b. 1792 Sunderland, m. Margaret Gates(?) 1812
dau. Elizabeth b. 1797 Newcastle, m. Joseph Tate 1818
dau. Ann, b. 1800 Newcastle, m. Joseph Richardson 1818
All children were married in Newcastle.
Does anyone know anything about any of these people? It appears that these are the only Wedderspoons in Newcastle at this time, although there were several families in Durham.
