Hi Norrie.   The gravestone must have originally been upright if there is an inscription on the other side as well.  You wouldn't by any chance have a photo of the other side would you ?   I  don't really expect so, but just thought I would ask.

the inscription on the back came from Mitchell MIs
recorded in 1972

Hi Barry this is the inscription from Cupar Parish Churchyard, photo included

11  Erected By James & Catherine LONEY in memory to her
      mother Catherine MORE who died 18.12.1846 age 50
      widow of James LONEY who died 11.1.1862

Thanks for the early reply and photo. This will fill in a blank for us.
We are having some problems with the early spelling of family names .e.g., Lonie and Mair in  lieu of Loney and More.
But that is part of the fun in tracing our family history.
